Frequently asked questions
Cardboard Boxes
Pots/containers (not black)
Pot bags - you may find a bag around your pot. This is to help prevent losing the compost into the box. The bag is fully compostable, or can be recycled with your other household bags. Depending on the size used for your order, it can also be used in your kitchen for the food waste caddy.
Plant-pacs (the packaging that contain multiple plug plants, plant pots etc)
Bubble wrap-Not currently recycled via kerbside collections. Recycle an Item | Recycle Now
Black pots & trays-Not currently recycled
Packing tape-where possible, we always use the biodegradable tapes, but check when you receive your parcel. The recyclable tapes will be marked 'eco', 'recyclable', 'bio' etc, whereas the non-recyclable tapes will be standard parcel tape (brown or clear) and must not be placed with your recycling.
To reduce the amount going to landfill or being transported for recycling, where ever possible, we will reuse pots, trays and other packaging materials. This can include:
- Flower pots
- Seed trays
- Plant trays
- Cell trays
- Cardboard Packaging/boxes
- Bubble Wrap
- Plant-pacs
The packaging you receive will always be in a suitable condition for it's intended purpose, but we feel that it is much better to reuse wherever possible.
You can also buy recycled pots, trays, cell trays etc from us (subject to availability) at a much reduced rate when compared to buying new. Click the button below to view those currently available.
Wherever possible, we only use recyclable pots & trays. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to source the required pot size/type in a recyclable material.
Although the black pots/trays that we use are made from recycled plastics, they cannot currently be recycled as the recycling equipment doesn't 'see' black.
We always reuse the black trays/pots repeatedly, until they come to their end of life.
As more recyclable packaging comes onto the market, we will transition across to those wherever possible.
You may see a variety of colours when you receive your order such as green, orange, terracotta, clear, brown etc
These products have been chosen as they are completely recyclable, however, please note that some council authorities will not accept them at kerbside collections, but can usually be recycled at their refuse sites. We would recommend that you rinse all pots/trays before adding them to your household recycling so as to avoid them from possibly being rejected.
Use the following link to check if your local authority recycle them at the kerbside.
If you are local to us, and are able to drop off your used pots/trays then we will either reuse or recycle them wherever possible.
